From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Institute, the city's General Counsel Office, and City Council President Aaron Bowman will host a city council orientation program for newly elected council members. This will focus on Jacksonville's consolidated government, its independent authorities, and its constitutional officers.

Global Citizen Award

On the 101st birthday of Nelson Mandela, Jacksonville University will award its Global Citizen Award to his daughter, Dr. Makaziwe Mandela. The event will be hosted by the University and the Public Policy Institute. Past recipients of the Jacksonville University Global Citizen Award include business executive and Amazon board member Indra Nooyi and renowned filmmaker Ken Burns.
