Position Summary

The Davis College Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator will plan and oversee the marketing and public relations activities for the Davis College of Business & Technology in a way that advances the mission and improves brand reputation. The person holding this position is responsible for coordinating with stakeholders to set and enact a marketing strategy that includes writing, digital marketing, and creative assistance that will support recruiting, advancement, branding, and marketing priorities for the college. For individuals interested in teaching and qualified to do so, this position includes the possibility to serve as an Instructor of Marketing and teach marketing courses.

Essential Job Duties

  • Coordinates, creates and oversees the creative process for all promotional items, including but not limited to posters, flyers, postcards, invitations, brochures, electronic newsletter, annual report, etc.
  • Writes and edits news releases regarding happenings from the Davis College of Business & Technology.
  • Writes articles, feature stories, scripts for events such as honor societies and award ceremonies.
  • Provides marketing and creative support for all admissions, recruiting, and promotional events including ordering of promotional materials.
  • Ensures all DCOB Web content is accurate and current.
  • Creates and maintains all social media pages related to the DCOB.
  • Promotes DCOB activities and events and assists with event coordination as needed.
  • Editorial support for publications associated with the Davis College of Business & Technology.

Special Skills

  • Be an excellent communicator who can draft and edit communications for multiple channels, including print, website, and social media
  • Have a thorough understanding of digital marketing and communication principles and techniques, including advertising, SEO, and analytics
  • Maintain an expert-level of proficiency with digital and print content development and management tools
  • Be able to work collaboratively with all members of the Davis College of Business & Technology as well as the Office of Marketing and Communications

Work Conditions

  • The job is primarily indoors, but includes outdoor duties associated with monitoring and attending practices and intercollegiate athletic contests, including sideline presence and game management duties
  • Standard office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry equipment and supplies;
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach;
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines;
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens;
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.

Prerequisites Required for Position

  • Have a bachelor's degree and experience or demonstrated equivalency in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or related fields. Experience can include internships and/or career experience and may be substituted by equivalent one year of high-quality, professional student work.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Proficiency with digital and print content development tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite). Proficiency with social media platforms and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends, as necessary).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g. HootSuite, Meltwater)
  • Submission of sample work
  • Master’s level degree is required to teach in this position as an Instructor of Marketing
