Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Manager will plan and execute marketing and communications campaigns and initiatives to market the College of Law and other high-level initiatives for the University. This highly collaborative position will work closely with marketing, admissions, advancement, alumni engagement, and academic leadership and faculty to raise the profile of the college. This position will serve and support all marketing and communication needs including but not limited to email, news, public relations, digital marketing, print marketing, search engine optimization, website design, and graphic design.

Essential Job Duties

  • Admissions Communications
    • Support admissions with communication needs such as:
      • New student email campaigns using leads
      • Current student email campaigns
      • Transactional emails for current and future students
      • Materials for tables and events
      • Collaborate on event planning needs
      • Maintain and update the cast system
    • Public relations/storytelling focused on recruiting students including:
      • News hub articles
      • Press Releases
      • Media Interviews
      • Publication articles
  • Marketing Support
    • Plan marketing campaigns that use tactics such as:
      • Digital marketing (Examples include Facebook, Instagram, Search, Display, and Adroll)
      • Website updates/new web page designs
      • Print pieces
      • City brand recognition such as billboards
      • Testimonial database
  • Advancement & Alumni Engagement Initiatives
    • Advancement: Create the needed resources and proposals to help major gift officers raise donations for the college.
      • Write and create intro email resources
      • Design and write Proposals
      • Design and write Powerpoint Decks
      • Design and write large storytelling print pieces
      • Write and create follow up email resources
      • Collaborate with editorial services on video projects including (scripts, scheduling etc.)
    • Alumni Engagement
      • Email campaigns to keep the college of law affinity group engaged
      • Collaborate on event planning needs for this affinity group such as collateral, branding and logistics

Special Skills

  • Be an excellent communicator who can draft and edit communications for multiple channels, including print, website, and social media
  • Have a thorough understanding of digital marketing and communication principles and techniques, including advertising, SEO, and analytics
  • Maintain an expert-level of proficiency with digital and print content development and management tools
  • Be able to work collaboratively with all members of the University such as the Strategic Operations Division and faculty throughout the University

Work Conditions

  • The job is primarily indoors but includes outdoor duties
  • Standard office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment but is not available for full remote work.
  • Being able to attend in-person meeting with campus clients is critical. Campus client meetings will happen at Jacksonville University Downtown and Arlington locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in closely related field such as marketing, communications, graphic design, or business

Minimum Work Experience

  • Experience in the marketing, communications, and/or graphic design industry. Experience can include internships and career experience. At least one year of career versus internship experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education marketing experience
  • Social media management tools expertise such as Falcon, Hootsuite or Meltwater
  • Digital marketing buying expertise such as advertising managers
  • Adobe software such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
