Position Summary

Jacksonville University, a private university, founded in 1934, that combines the advantages of the liberal arts with the benefits of a comprehensive university, is seeking an outstanding individual to serve as the next Dean of the Davis College of Business (DCOB). Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will lead this nationally recognized, only AACSB accredited private business school in North Florida and South Georgia in all areas as part of the University leadership team. In this important role, the Dean will build on existing success, providing internal leadership in the attainment of the strategic goals of DCOB and the University. The Dean will also serve as the direct representative to the local, national and global business community as the College continues its goal of "Creating a Distinctive Identity and Brand.”

The Davis College of Business is one of four colleges in the University. The College offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business and leadership as well as the prestigious DBA. With strong alumni and donor support the College’s MBA program has produced nearly 1100 graduates, and many are key business leaders in Jacksonville. The College has more than 41 full time faculty leading in teaching and scholarship within the DCOB as well as the AABI accredited School of Aviation which is a part of the College.

Essential Job Duties

  • Commitment to providing strong leadership on campus and in the community in order to promote programs of the University and the Davis College of Business
  • Dynamic leadership qualities, including the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with the business community
  • Ability and willingness to utilize connections to the community to increase gifts, endowment, and other significant revenue sources
  • Success in fostering relationships with donors, alumni, business, industry, government, and other college constituencies
  • A track record in fund-raising and the development of public-private partnerships
  • An Ability to encourage faculty research and the pursuit of opportunities to obtain grants and contracts;
  • Successful academic administrative experience including the management of official and personnel resources, recruitment, evaluation, and retention of well qualified faculty and staff, academic program evaluation and review, and programs for student advisement, recruitment, and retention
  • A strong commitment to the importance of maintaining an on-going assessment process for the continued success of regional AACSB and AABI accreditation
  • Commitment to shared faculty governance, collaborative and consultative processes, and consensus building
  • Honesty, integrity and strong ethics
  • An ability to communicate and interact effectively within a culturally diverse campus community

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • An earned doctorate in business or a closely related discipline and a record of university teaching and scholarly activity appropriate to the rank of full professor in a department of the College of Business
