Basic Skills & Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Academic training in the teaching of writing across disciplines
  • Ability and/or desire to enter into a tutor/tutee relationship
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (specifically Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with citation styles used in graduate programs throughout the University including, but not limited to, MLA, APA, Chicago, and CSE
  • Willingness to work with faculty in graduate programs to assist with the writing needs they see among their students
  • Availability between noon – 9pm Monday-Thursday, noon- 4 pm Friday, and 10 am – 2 pm Saturday
  • Willingness to conduct tutoring sessions virtually, in person, or provide written feedback (email) as needed
