About the Leadership Academy
Are you currently a leader at Jacksonville University – or interested in becoming one?
Please consider applying to the Jacksonville University Leadership Academy. One of the many advantages of your career at JU is that we work in an environment that challenges us to learn new things and be part of lifelong learning on a daily basis. In today’s workplace, to be an effective leader, employees must exhibit broad skills that exceed the specific, technical aspects of their jobs and show the desire for personal growth and continuous improvement.
To meet these expectations, our University believes developing our leaders is one of the most important things JU can do. To make that move tangible, I am pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for our annual “Leadership Academy”.
Under the guidance of Office of People & Culture, this comprehensive program will focus on fundamentals of leadership, emotional intelligence, the power of listening, creativity & innovation, crucial conversations, adapting to & leading Change. The Academy program is specifically designed to address leadership skills in a higher education culture.
Higher education is one of the world’s most complex industries and requires broad and flexible leadership skills. Effective leadership is about relating to others, not solely about a leader’s position or ranking in the organization.
These internal “courses” will be delivered by our accomplished group of facilitators who are experts in leadership development. For example, Dr. Susan Bach will be just one of the facilitators; she’s been recognized for leading the Center of Leadership Development at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College to achieve a No. 1 national ranking in leadership development.
The JU Leadership Academy will be open to those in leadership roles or who desire to be in one in the future. The program will be offered to a cohort of up to 20 participants representing a diverse cross-section of University departments. The program will be delivered as a complete series of courses over several weeks, concluding before the end of April.
We are excited about this program and we are confident the results will go a long way to supporting our staff to stay current in their jobs and move on to other promotional opportunities in the Jacksonville University community.
