Position Summary

Staff Jazz Accompanist to assist the jazz ensembles.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist the Director of Jazz Studies with rehearsals and the support of the JU Jazz Combo I

Special Skills

  • Professional level jazz pianist
  • Demonstrated knowledge of harmonic structures
  • Experience with arranging projects
  • Able to span a wide variety of playing styles -traditional to modern aesthetics
  • Large repertoire from memory
  • Collegial, communicative educator/performer

Work Conditions

  • Indoor air conditioned rehearsal and performance spaces.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to move and setup equipment

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelors of Music in Jazz Performance

Minimum Work Experience

  • Basic jazz studio teaching as a private instructor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Featured jazz performer, composer, arranger. Evidence as a studio jazz instructor, group leader,
    experience in live and studio recording with major jazz artists. Experience as an employed jazz
    accompanist.
