Position Summary

This is a clinical non- tenure track, full time, 9-month Health and Exercise Sciences faculty position in the School of Applied Health Sciences. This position is in a classroom or clinical setting. The Clinical Assistant Professor works collaboratively and communicates with faculty, staff, and students to ensure program and student success. The Clinical Assistant Professor serves as an instructor and oversees course oversight and design, and ensures their assigned courses are in compliance with Exercise Science requirements for accreditation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as The Clinical Assistant Professor for assigned courses in Exercise Sciences or Health Sciences
  • Meets with students and faculty regarding student questions or concerns
  • Attends faculty meetings for the Department of Health and Exercise Sciences
  • Complies with academic handbooks for the program
  • Maintains a teaching load in the Department of Health and Exercise Sciences
  • Attends recruitment events for the university and assists with marketing for increasing program enrollment
  • Represents the program at university/college meetings and functions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Instruct, professionally communicate, and demonstrate skills techniques to healthcare students.
  • Self-directed, have computer proficiency that includes the knowledge necessary to develop case scenarios and simulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate students in the teaching/learning lab environment.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching techniques and curriculum development.
  • Skill in facilitating development of student problem solving skills.
  • Ability to design effective learning activities for students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Role model professionalism and maintain professional skills lab environment for students.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Experience:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university; Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Instructor/Lecturer experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of Exercise Sciences and Health Sciences curriculum and course content

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
