Position Summary

The Davis College of Business and Technology at Jacksonville University invites applications for a 12-month
tenured/tenure-track, interdisciplinary faculty position that will serve as the Assistant Dean of Student Success and Innovation in the Davis College of Business and Technology beginning Fall 2023. Rank, discipline, and tenure status for this position are open. Individuals qualified to teach in the areas of data science, applied math, analytics, computer science, or other related fields are preferred.

Essential Job Duties

The individual selected will work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team and forward the mission of the college to empower students to achieve sustainable career success with a high quality, relevant, and applied educational experience.

It is expected that the individual chosen for this position will possess the interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, the organizational skills to oversee programs, and the self-management skills to successfully accomplish goals related to the position. They will be a valued member of the Davis College of Business and Technology leadership team, helping to define and execute on a vision to be the premier college for business and technology in the state of Florida. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive work and classroom environment. It is expected the teaching load will be 2 courses in fall and 2 courses in spring in the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates should possess a terminal degree in their field from an accredited institution.

The Assistant Dean will fulfill the following functions, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure quality undergraduate programs in the form of for-credit curriculum and outside of class co-curricular experiences. Oversee assessment and continuous improvement efforts for undergraduate programs.
  • Oversee programs envisioned to enhance the undergraduate student experience in the college.
  • Coordinate faculty/staff development programs to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Explore interdisciplinary programs, innovate existing curriculum, and facilitate experiential learning at all levels, including micro-credentialling and certifications.
  • Serve as a leader of interdisciplinary efforts connecting the college to other units across campus, especially as related to STEAM.
  • Assist and advise the dean concerning college policy development, data analysis, and implementation

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors except when traveling between campus buildings
  • Some off-campus travel may be required

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Terminal degree in the field from an accredited institution. 

Minimum Work Experience

  • Individuals must be academically qualified at time of hire, and maintenance of academic qualifications is
    required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Individuals qualified to teach in the areas of data science, applied math, analytics, computer science, or
    other related fields are preferred.
