Position Summary

Jacksonville University invites applications for adjunct marine science positions to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of:

  • Introduction to Marine Biology, with lab
  • Introduction to Oceanography, with lab
  • Physical Oceanography
  • Marine Mammals
  • Invertebrate Zoology and graduate courses in the areas of:
    • Physical Oceanography (online and in person)
    • Marine Mammals (online and in person)

Undergraduate lecture courses are usually taught in the mornings and lab sections are usually taught in the afternoons. Graduate courses are taught separately online and in person. 

Essential Job Duties

Adjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching courses at the post-secondary level. These duties include:

  • Providing lectures
  • Supervising laboratories
  • Leading class discussions
  • Writing exams, grading exams, and providing feedback on any other assignments
  • Providing prompt responses to student questions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching undergraduate courses: applicants must possess either a Ph.D. or Master degree in any area of marine science, with at least 18 graduate credit hours earned in marine science.
  • Teaching graduate courses: applicants must possess a Ph.D. in any area of marine science, with at least 18 graduate credit hours earned in marine science
