Position Summary

The adjunct faculty will teach DSIM courses in both the undergraduate and/or MBA program consistent with her/his expertise and industry experience. The faculty will have interest and experience in the area of Information Systems with interest and/or evidence of experience in statistics and/or business intelligence/analytics. Preferred qualities include a desire to serve Jacksonville University’s students and engage with the local business community.  MBA degree or equivalent degree required. Must be able demonstrate their teaching and proven abilities in the Information Systems, business methods/analysis, statistics and business analytics to be seriously considered. The faculty should demonstrate teaching excellence with peer institutions and provide exceptional administrative references, student evaluations, and other third-party evidence of classroom success.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching lower and upper division courses as well as graduate level courses.
  • Developing effective courses, benchmarking the best teaching practices of DSIM in higher education.
  • Demonstrating capabilities to engage students and participate in an outcomes-based educational environment.
  • Engaging with the local businesses, government and nonprofit entities, and other stakeholders; a professional network is critical.
  • Willingness to mentor students, and enable their career goals through introduction and referrals to firms, government or local nonprofit organizations.
  • Teaching as needed each semester.

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Research focus must demonstrate knowledge and expertise in areas such Information Systems, business methods/analysis, statistics and business analytics.
  • Passionate about teaching, preferably evidenced by good student evaluations; must be able to demonstrate teaching capabilities.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues is essential.
  • Ability to teach effectively in a wide range of courses, mostly in Information Systems, business methods/analysis, statistics and business analytics. Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community and business community. 

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Work experience in business related to discipline is preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills in professional or academic areas are desirable.
