Job Summary

The University Webmaster and Developer serves as the leader for Jacksonville University’s website and subsidiary sites. This position oversees the management of the sites and is the developer of the website. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Marketing and working closely with the Sr. Director of Communications and Graphic & Web Designer.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Developer and administrator for the official Jacksonville University website www.ju.edu
  • Administrator for JU’s two subsidiary WordPress sites Wilma’s Little People School https://wlps.wavemagazineonline.com/ and Orthodontics Clinic https://jusmiles.com/
  • Prepares, delivers and trains University content managers to be responsible for editing the 4,000+ web pages on the JU site
  • Serves as a resource for the University’s content managers to troubleshoot website editing questions
  • Executes ADA compliance and trainings to ensure the website meets standards
  • Maintain and improve the University’s website providing website maintenance, monitoring web hosting, and planning for larger website upgrades
  • Makes recommendations for user-centric information architecture while supporting business and marketing goals
  • Code in content management systems (OmniUpdate and Wordpress) delivered solutions
  • Collaborates with the web designer to launch new web developments
  • Use a variety of programming languages and applicable web coding in order to create user-friendly web pages
  • Transition from the current Google Analytics platform to G4 and work with the dashboard vendor to set up website and marketing dashboards
  • Set the overall strategy/vision of the website serving as the subject matter expert to empower the marketing team to contribute in areas such as SEO and website design
  • Set up redirects for the website as needed
  • Lead the homepage of the website including setting emergency alert banners and ensuring the communications team updates featured stories and homepage hero’s
  • Administrator for the University’s online form system to troubleshoot form needs from form creators
  • Website leader for the office of marketing and communications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience in web applications, content management systems and/or development
  • Ability to provide website training to staff and/or students in area of expertise
  • Knowledge of UX/UI best practices
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML and common web languages
  • Understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility standards
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a range of personalities and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Proactive and independent approach to work; team player with a strong sense of ownership needed
  • This is a hybrid position with a minimum of eight hours required weekly at Jacksonville University’s Arlington Campus
