Job Summary

  • Instructor of World Languages with competencies in French and Spanish
  • Teaching duties in the introductory French and Spanish sequences
  • Renewable, non-tenure track


  • Teach four 3-credit courses per semester
  • Coordinate syllabus and other academic work with language program coordinator
  • Assess students and record grades in a timely manner
  • Provide assessment data for accreditation, as needed
  • Attend departmental meetings and school events
  • Encourage beginning language students to continue their study of World Languages
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English, French, and Spanish
  • Commitment to proficiency-based language instruction methodologies

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Masters degree in Spanish or French (or related field)

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Teaching experience as instructor-of-record in the language classroom preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management System software (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (not required)
  • Masters (required)

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually.  Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Stamina to teach at least 12 hours weekly.
