The Davis College Center for Professional Development provides graduate level benefits, services, and programming for business students to maximize their executive career development. We partner with Jacksonville businesses, executives, and Career Management at JU to ensure every graduate business student has the tools to obtain career success. Snack Research Seminars 

The Davis “Snack Research Series” allows faculty and students to enjoy snack-sized, quickly digestible presentations on different research topics that can fit easily into their busy schedules.   

Executive Networking Opportunities 

One of the most beneficial things a business student or graduate can do to advance their career is take advantage of networking opportunities. Invest in your growth by developing a supportive environment. It will make a big difference when you're developing and navigating your career path.   

International Study Abroad 

Explore different cultures, earn graduate academic credit, and learn the nuances of the global economy in our Business International Study Abroad global mindset experience.  

Community Consulting Projects  

Our graduate students can think critically to perform research and solve business problems.  Businesses can work with Davis consulting teams on research projects that have a positive impact on a company’s business operations, strategic planning, and bottom line. 
 

Customized Program Advising  

Our goal is to provide quality advising services to support our students in the graduate business programs in achieving their personal, academic, and career goals. Students have the opportunity to meet individually with their academic advisor to develop an academic progression for their graduate program that is tailored to their needs and schedule.  Your academic advisor is available to assist with everything from first-semester course registration to graduation requirements.  The academic advisor also can connect students to additions resources for support, services, and career opportunities. 

Program Orientation 

New student orientations are held each semester introducing students to key areas of our program that are vital to student success inside and outside the classroom.  Graduate Student Orientation is an excellent opportunity to learn about the vast system of resources, support, and services the Davis College of Business & Technology has in place to enhance your graduate student experience, education, and professional development.    

Registration Assistance for Classes 

Students who choose to be added to the preregistration list will be automatically registered for classes when the semester registration opens.  Students will be registered for classes according to their personalized academic progressions plans and notified by email when the semester registration is complete.   

Peer Tutoring 

Peer tutoring is offered virtually Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5pm-8pm and Thursdays from 4pm-8pm.  Individual peer tutoring is also available in person or virtually by appointment.  The peer tutoring program helps students achieve greater success in key business courses.  Peer tutoring benefits both tutors and students. Students strengthen their academic skills while tutors gain leadership and communication skills. 

Peer Class Technology and Software Support 

IT and software support and troubleshooting are available to students on a walk-in and by appointment basis.   

Davis Executive Career Coaching Series 

Having a trusted adviser, such as a Davis executive career coach, is a secret weapon of executives across Jacksonville and beyond, but you don’t have to be a member of the C-suite to take advantage of this opportunity. Attend the Davis Executive Career Coaching Series at Jacksonville University to learn more on how to develop your career path.  In this series, students are introduced to the careers of a variety of successful executives and leaders who will encourage them to discover their own personal career goals and reflect upon their development and networking needs. Coach-designated Davis Executive Career Speakers will allow you to contact them after the presentation for one-on-one executive coaching.  

Internship and CPT Assistance 

Our Career Management team is ready to help students navigate the process to obtain an internship.  This is important as a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that over 66% of internships were converted to full-time work.  

We assist with Davis graduate requests for CPT using the school’s established processes.   

Resume assistance using VMock and Big Interview 

All students also have access to Big Interview for mock interview feedback (see the Career Management Center for more info).  

Career Fairs 

Several professional development activities are scheduled throughout the semester, and we encourage you to attend! Do not miss the fall Career Expo. It is scheduled for September 22nd and 23rd, and employers will be on campus interested in hiring all our majors.
