Announcement: Interim Dean, College of Arts and Sciences March 20, 2017

Colleagues:

After consultation with and approval by the President, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Sandra Coyle has agreed to serve as the Interim Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) effective May 1st, 2017 through Academic Year 2017-2018. Please join me in congratulating Sandra and thanking her for her continued service to the University.

It is now time to formally initiate the process of having a robust discussion about the future structure of COAS – a discussion we will conduct between now and April 30th. I will be consulting with our Associate Provosts, Deans, Faculty Chair, and Faculty Executive Committee to map-out an inclusive process which encourages faculty participation, discussion, and debate. The objective will be to provide meaningful feedback while presenting structural organizational options to President Cost so that we can move forward toward an official national search, which would commence this August. Our goal is to have permanent leadership in place by August 2018 / the start of Academic Year 2018-2019.

Thanks for your engagement and active participation as we continue to improve here at Jacksonville University.

With best regards,

Donald H. Horner, Jr., Ph.D.
Provost, Senior Vice President of University & Academic Affairs
Professor of Leadership, Davis College of Business
