Dr. Lisa Sutherland is the Interim Dean of the Davis College of Business & Technology and Executive Director of the Cost Honors College. A seasoned educator and executive, Dr. Sutherland has over 20 years of experience in the academic and corporate sectors.

Since joining Jacksonville University in 2023, Dr. Sutherland has led the University Honors Program with a steadfast commitment to elevating the student experience and success. She founded the Honors Living Learning Community, expanded honors offerings, instituted dedicated academic advising, and demonstrated outstanding leadership across the University.

Before joining Jacksonville University, Sutherland founded and led Sutherland Group, LLC, a global consulting firm advising major brands including Walmart Inc., YUM! Brands, Papa John’s, Kraft-Heinz, Dannon, and Chobani. She served as chief nutrition advisor to Walmart’s executive team and led the company’s healthier food initiative in collaboration with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign. Additionally, she held a senior executive role at the Kellogg Company.

Before her corporate career, Sutherland served on the faculty at Dartmouth College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her appointment as Interim Dean, Dr. Sutherland will continue serving as Executive Director of Jacksonville University’s Honors Program.

Sutherland earned her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UNC’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
