Spanish in Ecuador Cuenca & The Galapagos Islands

This five week program has been designed to expose students to Cuencan, Ecuadorian, and Andean cultures and strengthen their language skills. Students will live with experienced homestay families in Cuenca and immerse in culture through museum visits, cultural activities and excursions, day trips to nearby towns and parks, and an eye-opening trip to the Galápagos Islands.

 

Cuenca, located in the highlands at about 8,500 feet, is a city full of culture and history. It is recognized for its architecture, climate, people and high quality products such as silver jewelry and the Panamá hat. While immersed in this location, students will live like locals and experience the culture thoroughly, coming to understand the diversity of Ecuador.

Courses

Students will take two courses for a total of 6 credits.

SPAN 201: Intermediate Spanish I (3 credits)
SPAN 202: Intermediate Spanish II (3 credits)
SPAN 301: Spanish Conversation (3 credits)

and

HUM course (3 credits)

 

Pre-requisites:

• SPAN 102, or must have taken the Spanish placement exam and tested into SPAN 201
