Occupational Therapy Spring Break in Belize

Students will spend Spring Break in Belize and get an opportunity to see first hand how special education services are being developed in another country.  Through fieldwork and clinical experiences students will learn about the similarities and differences in occupational therapy practices.

Excursions and activities will allow students will experience the natural beauty, history, and culture of Belize.  Did you know Belize is home to hundreds of Mayan ruins, the world's second largest barrier reef, and the world's only Jaguar reserve?  What better way to spend your Spring Break than completing academic fieldwork in a Carribean paradise!

Courses

OTD 620/622: Fieldwork 1A & Fieldwork 1C

Through guided observation and participation in clinical practice settings supervised by professionals, students will synthesize knowledge and demonstrate professional skills and foundational competency of the occupational therapy process.  Placements can range across a variety of practice settings.  This course is a prerequisite to subsequent fieldwork courses in the curriculum.
