Conflict of Interest

What is Conflict of Interest?

Conflict of Interest (COI) regulations are designed to ensure that a researcher’s personal integrity, judgment, and objectivity are not compromised by a financial or personal relationship.  These regulations require Jacksonville University to remove or manage any actual or perceived COI.  Faculty who participate in sponsored research are subject to Jacksonville University's Sponsored Research COI policy.

Please note: Conflict of interest as it pertains to sponsored programs is different than the disclosure of external employment, which is managed directly through Academic Affairs through its annual disclosure process. Pleae contact Renee Rossi, AVP Research, for more information at rrossi@ju.edu

Process for Disclosure

Coming Soon.

Jacksonville University’s COI policy is based on the requirements of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) regulations.   All participating faculty must disclose their outside financial interests for the previous year by March 1, beginning March 1.  Additionally, faculty must provide ad hoc disclosures as circumstances merit.  COI training and disclosure are required before a researcher engages in research and every four years thereafter.

Research & Sponsored Programs Conflict of Interest

JU requires all faculty or staff engaging in research or other sponsored activity to disclose all significant financial interests that would reasonably appear to be affected by the research or educational activities funded by the grant.
