A Veteran's Day Message

November 7, 2014

To the JU community,

As we approach Veterans Day, I would ask each of you to take time to remember the sacrifices of the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces. The service members we honor came from all walks of life, but they shared several fundamental qualities. They possess courage, pride, determination, selflessness, dedication to duty and integrity – all the qualities needed to serve a cause larger than oneself. They are ordinary people who respond in extraordinary ways in extreme times. We owe each of these patriots a debt of gratitude for their service in defense of our freedom.

Jacksonville University has a long history of supporting the United States military. We have 600 members in our JU military community, which includes active-duty students, student veterans, Naval ROTC, military family members, faculty veterans and staff veterans. We will continue to seek new and innovative ways in which we can support our military community.

We are blessed as a nation to have the freedoms each of us enjoys. Veterans Day honors those who have given their all for our freedom, and I hope you will take time to honor these heroes.

Sincerely,

Tim Cost
