Payment Plans

Tuition payment plans are available to all students, although there are some charges (flight fees, travel expenses for study abroad, etc.) that cannot be financed this way.

Payment plans are semester specific. If you would like to pay for upcoming terms using a payment plan, you will need to apply for a new payment plan ahead of each semester. The earlier you register for classes and apply for a payment plan, the more installments you’ll be eligible for. See example payment plans.

Applying for a Payment Plan

Before you can apply for a payment plan, you need to:

  1. Fully register for classes for the upcoming term.
  2. Complete your housing and meal plan contract with Residential Life, if applicable.
  3. Complete all outstanding financial aid documents, certifications, verifications, loan entrances and promissory notes as applicable.

Each new payment plan costs $75, which will be required at the time of application.

Past Due Balances

Payment plans may only be used for current or future terms. They cannot be used for past due balances.

Exceptions

There are some charges that cannot be financed through payment plans.

Study Abroad and Away

If you are participating in a study abroad, please be advised that travel expenses cannot be financed through a tuition payment plan. Payment in full is required. This includes but is not limited to, the payment or financing of your total tuition, room board, and student health insurance (if applicable), as well as payment in full for your travel expenses directly to JU to bring your term balance to $0.00.

Aviation Management and Flight Operations (AVO)

If you are an Aviation Management and Flight Operations (AVO) Major, please be advised that flight fees cannot be financed through a tuition payment plan. Payment in full for your flight course is required to authorize a "clearance to fly." A "clearance to fly" includes, but is not limited to, the payment or financing of your total tuition, room board, and student health insurance (if applicable), as well as payment in full for your flight course directly to JU to bring your term balance to $0.00.

Payment Amounts

The amount of each payment will depend on the length of the payment plan and the total cost of your semester (including tuition, room, board, and health insurance), less any scholarships, grants, loans, other financial aid, Pre-Paid or 529 plans, or sponsorships.

Payments are subject to change based on registration activity, room and board adjustments, or changes to your financial aid package. You may check the status of your account via WebAdvisor.

Delinquent payments will result in the cancellation of the payment plan and the accrual of finance charges based on the past due balance at the time of cancellation.

Making a Payment

Payments for monthly payment plans are due on the 15th of each month and will generally begin on the 15th of the month following your application. For example, if you apply to create a new payment plan on June 25, your first payment will be due July 15.

Payment Plan Examples

Payment plans tend to be available in two-, four-, and six-month increments. The plans available to you are based on (1) your class registration and (2) how early you create a plan. Longer payment plans, for example, are not usually available once a semester starts. The goal is for you to complete payment on your balance before the next semester begins.

There is a $75 fee for creating a payment plan. This fee is due during setup.
