Who can receive a Dolphin Card?
Dolphin Cards are typically issued to new students and employees during orientations. Otherwise, all Dolphin Cards are issued to students enrolled in the current semester, beginning one week prior to the first day of classes. Students must be registered at least one day prior to getting a Dolphin Card.
What can I do with my Dolphin Card?
Your Dolphin Card will serve as your official identification card, library card, meal plan card, gym and building access, and free access to athletic events. The Dolphin Card is also used for Dolphin & Flex Dollars, as well as to receive discounts!
How should I maintain my Dolphin Card?
Do not place stickers on, bend, twist, or punch holes through your Dolphin Card as this can damage the card and card readers.
Getting Your Card
Where do I go to get a new or replacement ID card?
The Dolphin Card Office is located within Campus Security on the first floor of the Howard Administration Building.
What happens if I lose my ID card?
Immediately report a lost or stolen card to Campus Security at (904) 256-7585, or visit the Dolphin Card Office. You are responsible for all transactions that may occur before the card is officially reported. A $30 fee will be charged to replace your card.
What happens if my ID card is stolen?
Please follow the same procedure as if your card was lost.
Can I have more than one copy of my ID card?
For your protection, our campus system only allows one ID card per person. You can also have a mobile Dolphin Card credential on your phone or smartwatch.

What are Dolphin Dollars?
Dolphin Dollars is a prepaid spending account on your Dolphin Card offering a convenient and secure way to make purchases on campus. Dolphin Dollars is designed to eliminate the need to carry cash. You or your parents must add value to your Dolphin Dollars account before using it for purchases.
How do I open a Dolphin Dollars account?
Add funds to your account with check or debit/credit card online.
How do Dolphin Dollars work?
Dolphin Dollars is a cashless, prepaid spending account on your Dolphin Card that is accepted on the Jacksonville University campus. You must add value to your account before using Dolphin Dollars to make purchases. You must have sufficient value available in your Dolphin Dollars account to pay for each transaction. Each time you use your Dolphin Dollars account, the amount of the transaction will be deducted from your account. You may not spend more value than you have. Unused balances in Dolphin Dollars roll over semester to semester and year to year.
How do I use Dolphin Dollars?
To use your Dolphin Dollars account, present your ID Card to the cashier at any location Dolphin Dollars is accepted and request to make payment using your Dolphin Dollars funds. Your remaining balance is always reflected on the receipt after each transaction; you may also monitor your balance and detailed account transactions in the account manager.
How can I check the balance(s) in my account?
You can view your balance through your account center, which allows you to check your balance, view recent transactions, add value, or add payment methods.
What’s the difference between my Meal Plan and Dolphin Dollars?
Both accounts are accessed by your Dolphin Card. All students are eligible to participate in a meal plan. Meal plans are only accepted as a form of payment at campus dining locations. Learn more about meal plans. Dolphin Dollars is a prepaid spending account that is accepted at all campus dining locations plus many other locations on campus. It is designed to eliminate the need to carry cash. You or your parents must add value to Dolphin Dollars before using them for purchases. Value in Dolphin Dollars roll over from semester to semester and from year to year.
Can I withdraw money from my Dolphin Dollars account?
You may not withdraw money from your Dolphin Dollars account. You may, however, receive a refund for unused funds upon your graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal from Jacksonville University.
What happens to leftover balances at the end of a semester?
Any balance remaining in your account will roll over from semester to semester and year to year until you graduate, withdraw, or are dismissed from Jacksonville University. At that point, you may receive a refund of your account balance.
What is the Dolphin Dollars refund process?
You may receive a refund of your Dolphin Dollars Account balance when you graduate, withdraw or are dismissed from Jacksonville University. Proof of withdrawal or dismissal is required. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the University’s card program service provider by emailing the Student Accounts Office at sfs@ju.edu.
Building Access
What is building access?
Jacksonville University has implemented an ID Card access program in many buildings to limit public access after hours. Campus community members gain access to buildings (where permitted) and may unlock doors by swiping/tapping their ID card on the building card reader. Buildings are locked on weekends and between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays. Schedules may vary depending upon building tenant needs.
What buildings can I access with my ID Card?
There are numerous buildings on campus that may be accessed using your ID Card. The following buildings are locked after hours and require an active ID for entry. Please note that access is restricted based on need. For example, residential students may only use their card to access the building their residence is in.

How can I be sure my ID Card will work for building access?
When you receive your ID Card, the card number is entered into the database system that controls all appropriate building doors on campus. If your ID Card does not work and you need access to a building, please contact Campus Security. You should then bring your ID Card to Campus Security during regular business hours to have the card checked and access issue remedied, if necessary.
Public Campus Copying
How do I make copies in the University Library System?
You can make copies by using your Dolphin Dollars account, which is active on all student, staff and faculty ID Cards. Funds must be deposited into the Dolphin Dollars account. You may deposit funds and view your available balance through the Jacksonville University portal.
