Next Steps for Transfer Students
Here, you will find helpful information regarding the next steps to take before arriving on campus to begin your studies, make new friends, and, of course, have fun!
This is not a comprehensive list for everyone. If you are an international student or a military student, you may need to send us additional documentation.
Here are the first three things you'll need to take care of to become an official JU Dolphin:
1. Activate Your JU Email
If you haven’t already, be sure to activate your JU email account. You should have received an email from your admissions counselor with your login information and temporary password. If you're unable to find the email or login, just give us a call and we will retrieve your credentials for you! As a new student, this is where you will receive future email communication.
2. Get Your Financing In Order
If you haven’t already, file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The JU ID# is 001495. For all other forms and deadlines, please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance at finaid@ ju.edu. If you’re using veterans’ education benefits, contact our Veterans and Military Resource Center at veterans@ju.edu.
3. Confirm Your Enrollment & Pay Your Deposit
Log in to your status portal to make it official by filling out the admit reply form. To move forward with enrollment, you must pay your $500 tuition deposit. You may only sign up for housing and classes after your deposit has been received. The deadline to pay your tuition deposit is May 1, 2023.
If you are using military benefits, your deposit may be waived. Please contact our Veterans and Military Resource Center at veterans@ju.edu for more information.
You'll need to complete all of the steps below before arriving on campus, but they can be taken care of in any order.
Register for Housing & Sign up for a Dining Plan
Get excited; it's time to find a roommate and pick your room! Most new students are required to live on campus for three academic years, and all students living on campus are required to have a dining plan. Learn about our residency requirements here.
Submit Your Housing Application
Register For Classes
The registrar's office will create your personalized schedule. After you have received your schedule, we recommend that you reach out to your academic advisor. To determine who your advisor is click here.
College-level credits with the grade of a C or better from regionally accredited institutions will transfer, but your credits may not meet your specific degree requirements. The department of your major will determine how these credits will be applied. Transfer credits will be evaluated after receipt of your admissions deposit.
Review your Bill & Payment Plan Options
Your college education is an important investment! Be sure to set up a time to talk with your admissions counselor about your financial aid package and prepare for your final out-of-pocket cost. Some federal and state funds require you to submit additional documentation, so keep an eye on your Financial Aid Self-Service Portal for additional steps. You can review our 2023-24 tuition and costs and our payment plan options online or meet with your counselor to discuss.
Submit Your Completed Immunization Form
You'll need to make an account using your JU email address to download the forms from Med+Proctor. Then, just take them to your doctor to be completed. After the forms are completed, submit them online through Med+Proctor.
Send us your Final Transcripts.
Have your final official transcripts from each high school or institution you've attended sent to JU.
Move In & Orientation
Move-in for transfer students is scheduled for August 10, 2023, from 9:00-12:00 AM. Classes will begin on Monday, August 14.
