The lauded Spanish and French literary magazine (, published under the auspices of the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in JU’s Division of Humanities, is published online and in print, with copies sent to nearly 100 institutions nationally and worldwide.

Because of the publication, “We frequently receive many e-mails and phone calls requesting more information about JU,” said Dr. Jorge Majfud, assistant professor of Spanish. “It is very popular among professors and teachers from many different states.”

Among this issue’s offerings:

    • JU student Ruth Senftleber writes in “Sometimes Dreams Do Come True” ( about the twists and turns of working toward her dream of a French degree – more than four decades after circumstances steered her from that goal in the ‘60s.
    • The powerful work of the HOPE CommUnity Center in Apopka, Fla., is highlighted in a story ( by Aixa Julias, who discusses her, Prof. Nina González’ and other JU students’ efforts to meet even basic human needs of workers in Central Florida.
  • Emily Hollister of JU offers readers a discussion of various differences among Spanish dialects (
