Professional Information: 

Dr. John L. Pauls is an Instructional Designer at Jacksonville University, where he works with faculty in designing learning experiences aligned with learning sciences and evidence-based practices. Prior to joining JU, Dr. Pauls was employed with Duval County Public Schools, where he worked as a K-5 educator for students on the Autism spectrum, school-based administrator for students with emotional and behavioral differences, and district administrator for technology innovation. During his tenure with DCPS, Dr. Pauls supported the three-day transition to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic for over 200 schools and 120 thousand students.

Dr. Pauls is also a respected learning consultant and speaker, working with school districts and institutions of higher learning around the world in adapting their pedagogical and andragogical practices for today's learners. During his career, Dr. Pauls has coached and trained over 10,000 educators on a variety of topics related to educational technology and learning design, and has spoken at numerous regional and national conferences. Dr. Pauls has also worked directly with industry leaders, such as Microsoft, Google, and Canva in designing, developing, and delivering professional learning for educators around the world focusing on 21st Century Learning Design.
