LEAD: Leaders Emerging and Developing
Offered by the Women’s Center of Jacksonville
The Women’s Center of Jacksonville’s LEAD Program (Leaders Emerging and Developing) is dedicated to building a safer, more respectful campus community at Jacksonville University by working to prevent sexual violence and promote student wellness.
Through LEAD, we offer a series of interactive life skills workshops that can be delivered during class sessions, to student clubs and organizations, to groups of students, and to faculty members. These engaging workshops create a space for participants to share their experiences, discuss real-world challenges, and develop the confidence and skills needed to create positive change on campus.
LEAD creates a safe environment for participants to:
- Develop leadership skills and become advocates for change
- Build healthy relationships and recognize early warning signs
- Learn how to prevent and respond to harmful interpersonal violence
Through discussions, activities, and skill-building exercises, participants gain the tools to:
- Support their peers
- Foster a safer and more inclusive community
- Create positive change beyond their immediate circles
Our Workshop Series include:
Prevention Series:
- Bystander Intervention (starting point for all groups)
- Consent
- Healthy and Unhealthy Friendships
- Boundaries
- Bullying
- Gender Roles and Stereotypes
- Body Image
- Agency Overviews (resources, services, and support)
- Sex Trafficking Awareness and Response
Wellness Series:
- Empowerment
- Mindfulness
- Time Management
- Journaling for Growth
- Self-Care and Hygiene
- How to Speak Up for Yourself
We start with Bystander Intervention Training as the foundation, then move down the list of workshops based on the group’s interests and needs.
LEAD equips the JU community with the education, tools, and confidence to intervene safely, support one another, and create lasting positive change.
