About the Program
Jacksonville University’s award-winning Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences is now offering Pathways to Speech Language Pathology. During the course of one semester, you’ll complete coursework online. The program continues in person where you’ll travel to Italy for an in person culminating field and study experience on location in mid May of 2023.
Pathways to Speech Language Pathology is specifically designed for students who have completed a baccalaureate degree in a field other than Communication Sciences and Disorders and need to complete specific required coursework before applying to a Master’s program in SLP. The courses meet the pre-admission requirements necessary for consideration and potential admission into a SLP accredited university in the United States and can be completed in one summer.

- Day Two: Introduction to the Italian Healthcare System
Morning: Lectures on "The Public Healthcare System of Italy" and "Comparing and Contrasting Public vs Private Healthcare Systems."
Afternoon: Lecture on "Italian Cultural Norms and Healthcare Access to Children, the Elderly, and the Ill."
Evening: Free time to enjoy Sorrento on your own.
- Day Three: Clinical Observations
Day: Clinical observations at local clinics and hospitals.
Evening: Free time to enjoy Sorrento on your own.
- Day Four: Guided Tour of the Amalfi Coast
Day: Guided tour by private bus visiting Positano and Amalfi.
- Day Five: Guided Tour by boat to the Island of Capri
Day: Guided tour by boat to visit the beautiful Island of Capri.
- Day Six: Clinical Observations
Day: Clinical observations at local clinics and hospitals.
Evening: Free time to enjoy Sorrento on your own.
