A Vocal Jazz EnsembleWho we are

Welcome to The RiverTones, an audition-only jazz vocal ensemble that embraces an extensive range of music genres, including jazz, standards, pop, musical theatre, and contemporary a cappella. Our members thrive as stage-savvy soloists and ensemble performers, dedicated to mastering a large repertoire each semester—all memorized in order to provide our audiences with an immersive and unforgettable experience.

With an emphasis on versatility in vocal production, our singers exude confidence in any style, making us highly marketable in the competitive music industry.

Repertoire. Tours. Events. What we sing

The RiverTones deliver a captivating musical experience with our diverse repertoire.

Every year, we proudly host the highly anticipated Jazz Choir Festival, this year featuring renowned clinician Rob Dietz. Our Annual SpringSing! Concert showcases a delightful fusion of jazz, pop, and standards spanning various eras. We are also a featured ensemble at graduation and convocation ceremonies, whether singing our alma mater song, the National Anthem, or something from our wide-ranging repertoire.

We love collaborating and frequently invite guest choirs and clinicians including the inimitable Kirby Shaw. We make many special guest appearances, including a remarkable performance with GenerationW in 2019 and a memorable showcase at the Jacksonville Children's Choir Honor Festival in 2022.

Please browse our upcoming events and make sure to attend in-person or virtually.

Nothing Left UnsungSpringSing!

Swing into Spring with us as we perform banned, censored, and controversial tunes from across the last two centuries.

Listen to the infectious rhythms of Mas Que Nada and Muddy Water, while soulful renditions of When I Fall in Love and Are You Lonesome Tonight? tug at your heartstrings. With a number of eclectic arrangements and passionate soloists, The RiverTones create a SpringSing! experience that leaves no melody and no heart, untouched.

“I had the privilege of being a member of the RiverTones and Student Director for 3 years. I was exposed to a wide variety of genres and vocal styles such as blues, pop music, and even reimagined classical opera pieces. Here I improved my leadership skills in a hands-on setting by leading Friday sectionals. While I can attribute many musical victories to the RiverTones, the main victory is the friendships I formed. Being in an all-female vocal jazz ensemble has given me life-long friends, confidants, and supporters in the professional world. Thanks to Professor Barone and all the past and current Tones, I feel extremely well prepared for my future.”
