Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month, a national observance that recognizes and celebrates the contributions of women throughout history. President Jimmy Carter declared the week of March 8, 1980, as National Women’s History Week, stating that the achievements, leadership, courage, strength, and love of the women who helped build America were just as vital as those of the well-known men. Since then, every U.S. president has continued the honor, and in March 1987, Congress declared the entire month as "Women’s History Month."
At Jacksonville University, we have numerous ways to show our appreciation for the
incredible women on campus, including honors programs, women’s sports, and humanitarian
activities. We celebrate the achievements of these outstanding women every year during
the Woman of the Year Award ceremony, which is the highlight of our month-long festivities.
JU is proud and grateful to have so many brilliant women who make our campus a better
place. We appreciate your participation in celebrating them with us in 2026.
