Influence of World War I on the Music of American Composer Howard Hanson
A Confluence Event. This lecture/recital explores the effect of WWI on the music of Howard Hanson. Built around the three movements of Hanson’s Piano Sonata, composed in 1918, the presentation will include photos from Hanson’s career in California (1916-1918), a rare look at Hanson’s manuscript, and a performance of the work.
