Dolphin Dining Services has announced two, new retail dining locations coming to Jacksonville University next Fall. The changes will enhance convenience and increase menu offerings for students grabbing meals on campus.

New renovations in Oak Hall will include the creation of The Drop and POD Market. The Drop is a new “digital” dining concept and ghost kitchen that will Rendering of The Dropreplace the current Waves retail location. Students will be able to order and pay for food from their phones or from a self-ordering kiosk for pick-up.  This ghost kitchen concept also allows The Drop to operate multiple restaurant brands offering distinct menus at one time.

“Unlike a traditional single brand concept, The Drop will have the ability to offer three or four different menus simultaneously providing students with more variety and options to choose from.   This concept also provides Dolphin Dining Services with the flexibility to change the restaurant brands as needed to adapt to the evolving tastes and dining preferences of our students”, said Jamie Burket, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs.

POD Market combines the corner store with the style of a modern market, featuring grab 'n go dining options for breakfast, lunch or any time of day including freshly-prepared sandwiches, as well as fresh produce, bakery and Java City coffee selections and traditional essentials found in a convenience store. The new POD Market in Oak Hall will adhere to the same hours of operation as the other location, currently housed in the Davis Student Commons.

Bento SushiAdditionally, the in-house sushi team from Bento Sushi will be relocated from their current Riverview Dining Hall kitchen space to their own front-facing location in North Hall, with additional menu offerings to bring students the freshest sushi, made here on campus.

“Adding a retail dining option to the north side of campus was a direct result of feedback received from our students, especially those living in North Hall and the Village Apartments.  We look forward to expanding upon the popularity Bento Sushi already has established and increasing the diversity of food options available to JU students” said Burket.

North Hall’s updates will also include another POD Market, increasing the total number of POD Markets on campus to four.

Construction of both locations will occur this summer with planned openings for the Fall of 2024. For information on current dining options on campus, visit Dolphin Dining Services.
