Jacksonville University Celebrates Class of '26

May 04, 2026

More than 1,200 graduates crossed the stage under the oak tree canopy of Jacksonville University’s campus as hundreds gathered to honor their hard work and achievements. Among those achievements was a historic milestone: the first-ever graduating class from the Cost Honors College. Flags representing 16 countries were displayed on stage to reflect the rich diversity of the graduating class and JU’s dedication to global citizenry. These students now join the ranks of over 50,000 Dolphin alumni who have graduated from JU since the 1930s and gone on to make a difference across the globe, while always having a home in Jacksonville.

“This is not the same Jacksonville University as when you arrived on campus. It is infinitely improved, thanks to your involvement. You have left an indelible mark, and we are forever grateful to you,” said President Tim Cost as he addressed graduates. “You are the reason many of us believe our global future, despite clear challenges, is so bright.”

The weekend marked the 37th and 38th commencement ceremonies President Tim Cost has led in his 14-year tenure at Jacksonville University. Under his leadership, retention rates and class populations rose significantly, leading more students to cross the podium than ever before.

“This is the legacy of the past 14 years: a university that works together, invests in the whole student and creates an experience that is both academically rigorous and deeply human,” said Dean of Students Dr. Kristie Gover.

This graduating class faces a new world and evolving workforce armed with the same optimism, curiosity and tenacity that earned them their degrees. Hearty congratulations and best wishes for the future to the class of 2026!
