Thank You and Welcome Aboard
June 5, 2017
To the JU Community,
As many of you may be aware, Dolores Starr, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Office of the President, is retiring this week after nearly three decades of outstanding service and dedication afforded five Jacksonville University Presidents.
Dolores has been one of the truly unique voices of our University, and her professionalism, tact, discretion, congeniality and good humor have served JU very well. We offer her our highest gratitude for 28 years of stellar service, and we wish her the best in her retirement.
Today we also warmly welcome Ellita Black, highly accomplished in her own right, who we have selected after a rigorous search for a dynamic successor to build upon the positive outlook and seasoned expertise Dolores has brought to this vital role, through which so much gets done at Jacksonville University. Ellita will be a direct report to the President, with a dotted-line report to Diana Donovan, Director of the Office of the President, regarding overall office management.
Ellita comes to us directly from CSX, where along with prior assignments at Fidelity, Winn-Dixie and other top-level companies, she brings extensive, performance-driven project leadership for communications and administrative functions. Her engaging, strategic and cross-functional approach comes at just the right time in our University’s progression to a premier higher education institution.
Though Dolores’ last day is tomorrow, June 6, she has graciously agreed to remain on-call during this important transition period. Effective Wednesday, June 7, she can be reached at dolores.starr@gmail.com.
We invite you to welcome Ellita to the JU family, and we encourage you to reach out to her, whether in-person, or by email or phone. She can be contacted at the Office of the President at (904)-256-7016, or at eblack@ju.edu.
Thank you all for the resourcefulness, optimism and teamwork you bring each day to your responsibilities at Jacksonville University.
Sincerely,
Tim Cost
President
