In Observance of Memorial Day May 25, 2018

To our JU Campus Community:

As we observe Memorial Day together this weekend, we honor those in our military who have given their all to ensure our freedoms. Their patriotism, commitment and valor deserve our utmost respect and tremendous gratitude. This holiday serves as a reminder of the more than 650,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

We honor also those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who have answered the call to serve, including those members of our own Jacksonville University military family, including active-duty students, veterans, and our Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps.

NROTC is a longstanding and widely respected program here on our campus. In 1971, we began to forge the strong bond that exists today between this University and Jacksonville’s military community, making our unit one of the finest in the nation. We are proud to note that, since its inception, our unit has provided more than 1,700 superb ensigns and second lieutenants for duty as officers in the United States military.

This weekend, I encourage all of us to focus on friends and family, enjoy all that you count a blessing, and take time to honor and celebrate our fallen heroes.

Respectfully,

Tim Cost
