Dr. Sandy Brown has been a licensed OT since 1998. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics (BCP) through the AOTA and is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has specialized in pediatrics, however has worked in a variety of settings including home based, schools, private practice, residential facilities, outpatient clinics, and academia. She has also served as a center manager for a large outpatient rehabilitation clinic.
She received her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida in 2017 where she conducted research examining the impact of challenging behaviors on a child’s participation in therapy. Dr. Brown is a frequent invited speaker at conferences, academic institutions, and community events. Often, her therapy dog (Ricky) accompanies her when she provides education on the role of dogs in the field of rehabilitation. Dr. Brown’s research interests include pediatric outcomes, quality of life, participation, knowledge translation, and clinical reasoning.
