Filling out the application is the easy part of the college admissions process. You fill in your information, you click submit, and your done -- right? Unfortunately, every university requires additional materials in order for your application to be reviewed.


All official transcripts must be sent directly from your school(s) to Jacksonville University. Please be sure that all high schools and/or colleges you have attended send us your official transcripts.

Paper Transcripts

  • Must be in the school’s sealed envelope

Electronic Transcripts

  • Available for schools that use Parchment, Escrip, Naviance or SPEEDE

To receive additional need-based grants, loans, and work awards, U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens requesting aid should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Initial and Renewal FAFSAs should be completed online at http:// JU’s FAFSA code is 001495. Applicants are encouraged to submit their FAFSA applications as soon as possible. Students can begin completing and submitting their FAFSA applications on October 1st.

Transfer Credits

Transfer Credit Policy

  • A maximum of 60 semester hours or 95 quarter hours of transfer credit will be accepted from a regionally-accredited community college.
  • The final 30 credit hours must be completed at JU.
  • A grade of “C” or better is required for transfer credit to be awarded.
  • Courses that are considered to be foundation or remedial will not transfer.
  • An internship or practicum will not transfer.

Alternative Credits

For credit from the following areas: Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Level certificates of various kinds, Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support (DANTES). To receive credit, JU must receive an official copy of scores from the testing institution. Alternate credit scores listed on a transfer transcript from another institution will not be considered official.

  • Visit the Registrar site to see which classes you may transfer
  • When you take your test, select for your scores to be sent to JU by using the CEEB Code 5331
  • If you have already taken your test, call the testing organization and ask them to submit your official test scores to JU using the CEEB Code 5331

International / University Abroad Transfer Credits

If you have attended a university abroad, we require the official transcript from the university, along with a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES approved organization. Please choose the course by course evaluation and the calculated GPA option. Puerto Rican schools and The College of the Bahamas are not required to have this evaluation.

SAT/ACT Test Scores

Jacksonville University is test optional for most programs. Students are only required to submit SAT and/or ACT scores to be considered for the Honors Program, the 4+1 Program, and the Freshman Direct-Entry Nursing Program.

Self-Reported Test Scores

Beginning with students applying for summer 2019 admission and moving forward, we will accept self-reported SAT/ACT test scores as official when submitted with your application. Examples of acceptable SAT/ACT self-reported scores include:

The office of undergraduate admissions will only require and verify official SAT/ACT test scores for students that enroll at Jacksonville University and have selected to have their test scores considered in the evaluation of their application.

Official Test Scores

JU’s middle 50% range of entering freshman for test scores is:

  • SAT (new): 1030-1220
  • ACT (composite): 23-25

The above test scores are not minimum requirements; however, students within or above our median score ranges are considered the most competitive. If you choose to self-report your test scores with your application, please request official test scores to be sent to JU upon enrollment.

Proof of English Proficiency (Required for International Students)

If the medium of instruction of your school you have attended for at least two years is taught in English, your English proficiency requirement will be waived. You may also submit a proof of English by submitting a minimum score of any of the following:

  • TOEFL 79 iBt
  • IELTS 6.0
  • PTE Academic 53
  • SAT EBRW 500
  • ACT Reading/Writing 21 on each
