Position Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Health Sciences at Jacksonville University invites applications for a full-time clinical instructor position for a 9 month contract. The Department is seeking an individual with expertise in supervision and clinical management. The selected individual will assist the clinical coordinator with direct supervision of students in clinical practicum. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Provides direct services in community setting(s) as directed, including assessment and treatment for communication disorders 
  • Provides direct supervision for graduate students in clinical practicum on an as-needed basis 
  • Assists clinical coordinator in developing support plans for students as needed 
  • Assists clinical coordinator with site visits for other students as needed 
  • Assists with clinical placements and clinical teaching as needed 
  • Assists with labs and simulations as needed 

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors  
  • Off-campus travel is required 
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion 

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines. 
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications, computer display screens. 
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone. 

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • MS/MA in Speech-Language Pathology 
  • Documented experience in clinical supervision 
  • Speech Language Pathology certification and Florida State licensure as SLP required 
  • Evidence of continuing education coursework in supervision 

Minimum Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience. Strong experience with a pediatric caseload is preferred.   
  • Must have supervised clinical externs or practicum students, preferably within last 5 years
