Job Summary
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Health Sciences at Jacksonville University invites applications for a full-time, twelve month, nontenure-accruing position for a Clinical Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences & Disorders at the instructional site in Palm Coast, FL. The Department is seeking a faculty member with expertise in supervision and clinical management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and teach practicum courses for graduate speech-language pathology cohort
- Secure clinical placements for students in the Palm Coast cohort
- Work closely with clinical coordinator of Jacksonville cohort to ensure consistency of clinical content
- Serve as Palm Coast coordinator for clinical program
- Conduct site supervision visits providing feedback to student clinicians
- Develop and support clinical supervision education for site supervisors
- Provide service in the area of Communication Sciences & Disorders
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Effective instructional abilities, ability to professionally communicate\ and demonstrate skills techniques to communication sciences and disorders students
- Self-directed, have computer proficiency that includes the knowledge necessary to develop case scenarios and simulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of effective teaching techniques and curriculum development
- Proficient in facilitating development of student problem solving skills
- Ability to design effective learning activities for students
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
- MS/MA in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent with 10+ years clinical experience
- Speech Language Pathology certification required
- Florida State Speech-Language Pathology licensure
- Evidence of continuing education coursework in supervision
- Prior teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level
- Must have supervised clinical externs or practicum students, preferably within last 5 years
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
- Near vision sufficient to read written communications, computer display screens
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
