Position Summary

Functions as resources person to assist and evaluate students in achieving their nursing objectives on an individual and group basis in classroom and medical surgical clinical settings with an emphasis in pathophysiology and research. Faculty will work with other faculty in support of curricula improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies. The person in this position will plan, organize, assume didactic and clinical instruction and participate in undergraduate committees, academic advising and university service. Maintains course and clinical standards set forth in the Academic Catalog, KSON handbook and accreditation standards. Flexible hours and days, accessible per university policy to answer student questions or concerns, assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment. Maintain professional practice knowledge base needed to instruct learners in contemporary nursing practice. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track full-time faculty nursing position.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors except when traveling between campus buildings
  • Some off-campus travel may be required
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and scientific equipment
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis on Medical Surgical Nursing.

Minimum Work Experience

  • RN for five years with clinical experience.

Expectations

  • Current Florida nursing license or eligibility to obtain Florida nursing license
