Position Summary

The Department of Literature, Language, and Culture, with the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts at Jacksonville University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Spanish, Language and Culture, tenure-track, beginning August 2022.

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach a wide variety of courses to support the core curriculum and both the major and minor programs.
  • Teach four courses per semester, which will potentially include all levels of language, literature, and culture.

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Ph.D. by time of appointment (August 2022). 

Minimum Work Experience

  • Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish, demonstrable evidence of excellence in teaching, and an energetic commitment to working in a small, growing program
  • We will give preference to candidates with interest or experience in proficiency-based instruction and interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching.
  • Experience in advising and/or in engaging students outside of the classroom (e.g., study abroad, service learning, involvement in research, direction of undergraduate research) is also highly desirable.
  • Ability to teach languages other than Spanish may be of interest but is not required.
