Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Data Science at the assistant or associate professor level starting in January 2022. A PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or other related discipline is desired. Applicants with significant expertise in applying data science in industry are encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Duties

The ability to teach a broad range of lower-level and upper-level courses in data science and mathematics courses supporting data science is desired. Jacksonville University offers a Bachelor of Science in Data Science as well as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching, classroom use of technology, and small class size. The teaching load is 18 credits per academic year and part of this position’s duties will require formulating the completion of a data science certificate program. Additional course release may be possible for the first year of the position. Online or evening teaching may be required. As with all faculty positions at Jacksonville University, the position will require research, university service, and committee work.
