Job Summary

The Jacksonville University, Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences, Comprehensive Oral Implantology program seeks candidates for a Program Director position. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty, clinical directors, residents, and staff in their mission to achieve excellence in the areas of teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Seeks and assists in the onboarding of faculty instructors.
  • Evaluates faculty performance and provides timely feedback.
  • Oversees curriculum development and class scheduling/teaching assignments.
  • Purchases and obtains essential program equipment and maintains program budget.
  • Recruits and hires program faculty.
  • Retains objective assessment data for accreditation purposes.
  • Serves as a mentor to academic faculty.
  • Meets regularly with the Dean of the College and as needed collaborates with other college and program level administrators and community partners.
  • Instructs one or more courses per year in the program as related to their specific specialty.
  • Oversees daily academic operations of the program.
  • Collaborates with other college and program level administrators on program marketing activities and special events.
  • Helps to resolve issues and disputes.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures that faculty, clinical directors, and residents abide by Jacksonville University’s academic standards and the program’s goals and objectives to advance dental education, patient care, research, and service.
  • Oversees a broad based, systematic, and continuous approach toward designing, promoting, planning, evaluating, and improving the program's educational quality.
  • Upholds the application and principles of ethical reasoning, ethical decision making, and professional responsibility.
  • Collaborates with other college and program level administrators on the the evaluation of clinical sites and clinical directors.
  • Documents the program's activities and effectiveness using a formal and ongoing outcomes assessment process that includes measuring resident, clinical directors and faculty performance, and resident attendance and participation in didactic and clinical programs.
  • Collaborates with other college and program level administrators to develop guidelines for the resident’s clinical progression plan.
  • Respects and meets SACSCOC criteria for University accreditation
  • Organizes and executes educational and administrative components of the program, including:
    • Participates in the selection of residents qualified to undertake training in comprehensive oral implantology utilizing a centralized resident selection process.
    • Evaluates and participates in the selection process of new clinical residency sites.
    • Leads faculty and clinical director meetings.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate previous teaching experience in general dentistry with oral implantology expertise and have a distinguished record of professional accomplishments. 
  • Continued pursuit of new knowledge in oral implantology and related fields is desirable.
  • Candidate must possess a doctor of dental surgery or a doctor of dental medicine.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone. 
  • Adequate vision to conduct the responsibilities outlined above.
