Position Summary

This is an entry-level marketing and communications position for a professional, collaborative person with strong organizational skills and a passion for connecting people. The purpose of this position is to aid the Office of Marketing & Communications team in regular operational communications, especially day-to-day emails and social posts. They will also help to raise and protect University perception by ensuring that forward-facing content, such as the top-level pages of the website, is accurate, branded, and error-free. This position formally reports to the Director of Creative & Digital Marketing with additional guidance from the Senior Director of Communications and the Director of Information Strategy.

This is a hybrid position. Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays this position can work remotely from home and Tuesdays and Thursdays this position will work from Jacksonville University’s Arlington campus. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Distribute internal emails in cooperation with communications colleagues to maximize effectiveness of scheduling, audience selection, etc.
  • Monitor the Office of Marketing & Communications email inbox and answer or direct emails as appropriate
  • Schedule daily social media content according to editorial calendar and internal needs
  • Monitor and respond to social media comments and questions as needed
  • Creates social media content for Jacksonville University’s most highly trafficked social accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Proactively monitor accuracy and timeliness of top-level pages of the University website and update when necessary
  • Submit receipts for p-cards to support marketing and communications efforts
  • Capture photography to support communications as needed
  • Assist with formatting and copy-editing materials, presentations, etc., as needed

Qualifications

  • Have a bachelor's degree and experience or demonstrated equivalency in communications or related fields. Experience can include internships and/or career experience.
  • Strong writing skills: the ability to draft original informative copy, rewrite provided drafts for maximum readability and effectiveness, and distribute professional materials free of spelling, grammar, or content errors
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage competing requests and complex information
  • Strong relationship-building skills and desire to collaborate with others, both within the Office of Marketing & Communications and throughout the rest of the University
  • Be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and work flexible hours (including occasional evenings and weekends, as necessary)
  • A keen interest in learning more about the different skill sets used throughout Marketing & Communications
