Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the creation and coordination of compelling content in both digital and print media for a variety of audiences and channels. Primary responsibilities include writing and editing stories, social posts, emails, media materials, e-newsletters, and other written content as assigned; generating new story ideas and content initiatives; collaborating with a variety of stakeholders across other departments; taking photos and creating visual content with graphic design templates; coordinating photo shoots, video filming, media interviews, and other content-related needs as assigned in support of the Communications Team. The successful candidate for this position should be highly organized, deadline oriented, creative, a strong writer, and a self-starter. The successful candidate also should enjoy working in a team, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and exhibit a growth mindset. Photography experience preferred. Experience with Adobe photoshop, Canva, and SEO is a plus.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

Research, write, edit, and proofread short-form and long-form content for digital/online channels as well as print publications and marketing collateral;

  • Create and execute e-newsletters for internal and external audiences;
  • Plan, create and post social media content;
  • Assist in coordinating photo shoots, video filming, media interviews, and other content-related needs as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively and build positive, professional relationships with key departments across campus;
  • Support public relations and media relations initiatives, such as writing press releases, media advisories and supporting story materials for media;
  • Uphold best practices and ensure branding consistency across departments and platforms;
  • Support other writing and editing needs of the marketing office as requested.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Candidates must submit a portfolio of sample work to be considered

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
