Position Summary

The position serves as the primary graphic designer and photographer for Jacksonville University Athletics. These responsibilities include creating, updating and maintain athletic department graphics and visual media within the guidelines of the brand identity, capturing and maintaining a database of photos for use in athletic department materials and distribution to media outlets.

Essential Job Duties

  • Serve as the primary graphic designer and photographer for Jacksonville University Athletics
  • Design and provide graphics, photos and other relevant visual content for the athletics website (www.judolphins.com), social media pages and video boards
  • Primary athletics photographer at select home events for most sports, all home events for men’s and women’s basketball
  • Maintain the organization of archival photos using the athletics photography website (www.judolphins.smugmug.com)
  • Responsible for uploading photos to relevant ASUN, SoCon and MAAC databases
  • Assist in all areas of publicizing the accomplishments of the athletic teams and department
  • Assist, tutor communications staff to utilize pre-built templates
  • Other duties as assigned, including various projects and game operations

Special Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, After Effects and InDesign
  • Ability to operate and maintain professional photography equipment
  • Adaptive, ability to be flexible, problem-solving, demonstrate initiative, willingness to be a team player, positive attitude and approach

Work Conditions

  • Some travel may be necessary to select sporting events
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by athletics’ schedule

Physical Requirements

  • Be able to lift 10-20 pounds of equipment for game day operations (camera equipment, printers, boxes of printed material, etc…)

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Work Experience

  • Experience doing design work for an athletic communications office, similar field or as class work>
  • Experience working as a photographer professionally or as part of class work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, After Effects and InDesign
  • Experience working as a sports photographer
