Position Summary

The Athletics Department at Jacksonville University invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach / Recruiting Coordinator. Jacksonville University is an NCAA Division I rowing program and is an affiliate member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Essential Job Duties

Primary responsibilities are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of Division I program including, but not limited to, teaching student-athletes how to perform rowing, coordinating team travel, recruiting coordinator, some fundraising, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administration. This position will also assist the Head Coach in organization, administration, and promotion of the program. Approximately 60% of the Assistant Coach’s responsibility is dedicated to the instruction of rowing through on-water training and classroom training through the use of video and other teaching techniques. Approximately 40% of the Assistant Coach’s responsibility is recruiting and other administrative duties. Candidates must be committed to the academic and athletic success of the student-athletes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; minimum of two years’ coaching or collegiate rowing experience is strongly preferred; collegiate rower and/or coxswain experience. Strong leadership skills, highly motivated, and energetic. Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations preferred. Certification in CPR, AED, and first-aid will be required. 

About JU Rowing

Our women’s program has won 5 consecutive MAAC Championships (2014-2018) and has competed each of those 5 years at the NCAA Championship. Our state of the art boathouse is located on campus along the banks of the beautiful St. John’s River. Rowing started here at JU in 1956 and has a rich tradition both here on campus and in the Jacksonville community.
