Pharmacogenetic Testing: Considerations for Advanced Nursing Practice

Course Objectives:

  • Review central dogma of genetics and development/incidence of single nucleotide polymorphisms.
  • Define pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, genotype, and phenotype.
  • Examine current genetic testing options and benefits of competition.
  • Discuss clinical utility, economic utility and clinical validity of genetic testing utilization versus treatment as usual.
  • Explore patient populations for potential improvement outcomes using pharmacogenetic testing lead treatment.
 

This course will be presented by Bethanie Simmons-Becil BSN ’07, MSN, DNP, Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing for the Keigwin School of Nursing.

Registration includes two CE credits upon successful completion of course post-event survey.
