Dr. Fahlgren presented at the 2010 AOTA Conference and Expo on the topic of community empowerment as well as participated in the GOAL standardization study through Western Psychological Services in 2009. She has received specialized training through the National Science Foundation DeafTec program and teaches workshops to STEM faculty and presents at national conferences to improve the success of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students in the STEM fields. Additionally, she served as a member of the Florida Department of Education Curriculum Framework Committee for revision of Occupational Therapy Assistant educational standards.
Kimberly Fahlgren has over 27 years of health professions experience as an Occupational Therapist and is a member of the OT Leaders and Legacies Society. She obtained her clinical education at the University of Florida earning a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1992. She has continued her education by obtaining a transitional Occupational Therapy Doctorate degree from the University of St. Augustine in 2009 and a Master’s in Special Education from the University of North Florida in 2017 with a focus on Autism. She obtained the Fieldwork Educator Certification through AOTA and FLOTEC as well as certification as an Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. Her clinical experience includes working with individuals in the following settings: acute care, outpatient pain management, school based pediatrics, inpatient rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facilities. She has over 8 years of experience in academia, with 5 of these years in administration and teaching as the Program Director of the Florida State College at Jacksonville Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. She enjoys giving back to her community and served on the Nassau County School Board from 2011 to 2018 and is currently a faculty sponsor for the World Affairs Council Great Decisions program at West Nassau High School.
