Department of Dance School of Performing Arts

The Department of Dance at Jacksonville University provides excellent programs of study in dance with the infusion of a strong liberal arts education. Jacksonville University holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD).

Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Dance offers a four-year undergraduate program that culminates in a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Many students seek additional opportunities by earning an Entrepreneurship Certificate or a companion minor in Kinesiology or Secondary Education. Faculty members have had professional careers and remain active in scholarship and professional development. Within their course of study, JU dancers gain a body of knowledge in technique, choreography, dance history and criticism, and kinesiology.

MFA Choreography

Jacksonville University's Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Choreography is a two-year terminal degree program emphasizing choreography and the creative process of generating new works that are grounded in both classical and contemporary dance genres.
