Green Power: Energy, Environment, and Money

BIOL 170Introduction to Ecology and Evolution
ECON 201Principles of Macroeconomics

Taught by Professors Curtis Small and John Buck

How much of society’s resources should we devote to pollution control?  How do we value the protection of endangered species of plants and animals?  Should logging, mining, and energy exploration be allowed in national parks and other government land?  Can we combine economic and ecological principles to develop new methods of enhancing our material well-being with minimal damage to the planet?  Can it be profitable for businesses to operate in ways that do less damage?

There is growing global consensus that business as usual is not sustainable, yet our standard of living depends on a growing economy.  Learn fundamental economics and biological principles relating to ecology and evolution and use them to develop and present relevant projects.
